Institut Transformasi Sosial dan Pembangunan Wilayah (TRANSFORM)

The vacancy for the position of Director of TRANSFORM has been filled by the incumbent, Dr. Zahrul Akmal Bin Damin. The presentation of the appointment letter was presented by YBhg. Prof. Ts. Dr. Rabiah Binti Ahmad, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation). This appointment is for two years, until 31 December 2026.

1 January 2025

TRANSFORM in collaboration with Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris (UPSI) has received a study fund of RM 19,980 from the Lembaga Kemajuan Johor Tenggara (KEJORA). This fund is to make the Preliminary Study of the Projek Bersepadu Pembangunan Ekonomi Kampung (PROSPEK) in Mukim Benut, Pontian, Johor a success. This study is led by Dr. Hjh. Fauziah binti Ani.

TRANSFORM paid a courtesy visit to the Institut Tadbiran Awam Negara (INTAN) Southern Region. This courtesy visit aimed to discuss potential cooperation between TRANSFORM and INTAN Southern Region. The visit was led by Dr. Zahrul Akmal Bin Damin and was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fadillah Binti Ismail, Dr. Hjh. Fauziah Binti Ani, Dr. Shahidah Binti Hamzah and Dr. Mimi Nahariah Azwani Binti Mohamed. TRANSFORM's presence was welcomed by Pn. Iszalhamiyah Binti Mohamed (Director) accompanied by Pn. Ruzana Binti Ruslan (Deputy Regional Registrar) and Pn. Aidil Hasinah Binti Abu Bakar (Chief Training Coordinator). This visit successfully identified several prospects for cooperation to be achieved in 2025.

7 January 2025

TRANSFORM received a courtesy visit from ASD Training & Consultancy. This courtesy visit was aimed at discussing the potential for strategic collaboration between ASD Training & Consultancy and TRANSFORM. In addition, this collaboration was carried out to open up a network path for TRANSFORM to access ASD Training & Consultancy's strategic partners. The reception of this visit was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fadillah Binti Ismail and was also attended by Dr. Zahrul Akmal Bin Damin and Dr. Mimi Nahariah Azwani Binti Mohamed. The presence of ASD Training & Consultancy was led by Tn. Sohaimi Bin Daud and was also attended by Tn. Hamizan, Tn. Raja and En. Syazwan. Also present were the UTHM Security Director, representatives of the UTHM Counseling Center and TRANSFORM Research Fellows (Associate). A Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed by both parties at the end of the session.

9 January 2025

TRANSFORM paid a courtesy visit to the Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi MARA (KKTM) Sri Gading. This courtesy visit aimed to discuss potential collaboration between TRANSFORM and KKTM Sri Gading. TRANSFORM's visit was led by Dr. Zahrul Akmal Bin Hj. Damin and was also attended by Dr. Hjh. Fauziah Binti Ani, Dr. Shahidah Binti Hamzah and Dr. Mimi Nahariah Azwani Binti Mohamed. TRANSFORM's presence was welcomed by Mr. Zainuddin Bin Zakaria (Deputy Director) accompanied by Ts. Lelasari Bin Ali and Mr. Mohd Khairuddin Bin Abd Majid. This visit successfully identified several prospects for collaboration to be achieved in 2025.

15 January 2025

TRANSFORM has received a visit from Ikatan Muafakat Batu Pahat (I’M BP), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). This courtesy visit aims to discuss a program titled Rakan Demokrasi: Kuasa Orang Muda which is targeted at 30 UTHM students. This program is planned to be held on 15 February 2025 and the distribution of funds of RM 1,475.00 was made by the NGO. The reception of this visit was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fadillah Binti Ismail and also included Dr. Zahrul Akmal Bin Damin. The presence of I’M BP was represented by. En. Azam. Also present was the representative of student club of Fakulti Pengurusan dan Teknologi Perniagaan (FPTP), Mr. Shafik.

15 January 2025

TRANSFORM held an adjustment meeting for the implementation of the initial data collection session at the Pejabat Pegawai Daerah Pontian. This meeting aimed to adjust the data collection methods and schedule for PROSPEK which took place on 24 January 2025 to 23 March 2025. The meeting was attended by Dr. Hjh. Fauziah Binti Ani from TRANSFORM and co-researcher Dr. Sara Shakilah from UPSI. This project funded by KEJORA was attended by District Officers, Officers from the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, KEJORA Social Development Manager, Pontian Fisheries Director, Muar Veterinary Officer, Penghulu etc.

16 January 2025

Site visits to selected villages for the Projek Bersepadu Pembangunan Ekonomi Kampung (PROSPEK) are part of an initial study that aims to obtain a big picture or general understanding of an issue, situation, or study area before the full implementation of the village economic development project. The visit aims to obtain an initial understanding of the socio-economic conditions of the villages involved and to analyse the challenges and opportunities in implementing the village economic development project.

17 January 2025

TRANSFORM has received a visit from the UTHM Security Department. This visit aims to discuss high-demand courses for UTHM Security Department staff in collaboration with ASD Training & Consultancy which is expected to be held starting in July 2025. The reception of this visit was led by Dr. Zahrul Akmal Bin Damin and was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fadillah Binti Ismail. The presence of the UTHM Security Department was led by Mr. Mohamad Razid Bin Kasaok and was also attended by Mr. Abd. Shukur Bin Mutalib.

22 January 2025

TRANSFORM paid a courtesy visit to the Advanced Technology Training Center (ADTEC) Batu Pahat. This courtesy visit aimed to discuss potential collaboration between TRANSFORM and ADTEC Batu Pahat. TRANSFORM's visit was led by Dr. Zahrul Akmal Bin Damin and was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fadillah Binti Ismail and Dr. Mimi Nahariah Azwani Binti Mohamed. TRANSFORM's presence was welcomed by Ts. Mohamad Noor Bin Ismail (Deputy Director) accompanied by Ts. Hjh. Nor Azlina Binti Ismail, Mimi Nora Binti Mohd Noh, Ts. Kantan a/l Saminathan, Ts Nur AzuaBinti Rahim and Tc S. Rosli Bin Hasan. This visit successfully identified the prospects for collaboration to be achieved in 2025.

23 January 2025

TRANSFORM has been entrusted by the University to lead the task force to prepare a working paper on the direction of UTHM as a lifelong learning center with the concept of University of The 3rd Age (U3A) in the Southern Region. This working paper was presented by YBhg. Prof. Dr. Shahruddin Bin Mahzan @ Mohd Zin (Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic and International) in front of YBhg. Datin Dr. Syahira Binti Hamidon, Deputy Director (Education), Human Capital Development Division, Ministry of Economy. This presentation was agreed by the Ministry of Economy and UTHM was asked to prepare a full working paper.

24 - 26 January 2025

UTHM's Industry and Community Relations Centre organised a three-day workshop on strengthening industry and community relations at the New York Hotel, Johor Bahru. TRANSFORM was represented by Dr. Zahrul Akmal Bin Damin. The workshop aimed to provide clear guidelines in forming collaborations at the industry and community levels outside UTHM.

28 January 2025

TRANSFORM visited the Balai Dato’ Undang Luak Johol in Johol, Negeri Sembilan. The purpose of this visit was to present the final draft of the book Pengetahuan Lokal dan Dinamika Budaya Melayu di Johol. In addition, this visit also aimed to obtain confirmation of the content of the final draft of the book from the Dato’-Dato’ Adat in Johol. The visit was led by Dr. Hjh. Fauziah Binti Ani and was also attended by Dr. Zahrul Akmal Bin Damin, Dr. Shahidah Binti Hamzah and Dr. Nur Azah Binti Razali. A cheque worth RM 15,000 was also presented to TRANSFORM by Dato’ Undang Luak Johol.

4 February 2025

TRANSFORM has taken the initiative to hold a meeting with YBhg. Prof. Ts. Dr. Rabiah Binti Ahmad, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation). The purpose of the meeting was to make an initial presentation of UTHM's internal research papers as requested by YB Prof. Dato' Vice Chancellor. TRANSFORM's visit was led by Dr. Zahrul Akmal Bin Hj. Damin and was also attended by Dr. Norizan Binti Rameli and Dr. Mimi Nahariah Azwani Binti Mohamed. Two papers were presented, namely a Study on UTHM Staff Involvement in Sports and a Study on Best Practices of Uniformed Bodies at UTHM.

6 - 7 February 2025

TRANSFORM held a TRANSFORM Strategic Planning and Direction Workshop for 2025 at the New York Hotel, Johor Bahru. The workshop aimed to plan activities that need to be implemented throughout 2025, including consulting, research, publications and staff development.

13 February 2025

TRANSFORM participated in a courtesy visit to the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), Gelang Patah led by Assoc. Prof. Sr. Dr. Abdul Jalil Bin Omar from the Malaysian Real Estate Institute (MyRei). TRANSFORM was represented by PM Dr. Fadillah Binti Ismail. The presence of the UTHM delegation was welcomed by Ir. Jamal Bin Abu Bakar, En. Mohd Azhari Bin Mohd Sirat and En. Zahrulhisham Bin Damin. This visit successfully identified the prospects for cooperation to be implemented in 2025.

15 February 2025

TRANSFORM in collaboration with the Batu Pahat Youth Initiative Residents' Club organized a Democracy Workshop: Voice of Youth at the al-Farabi Hall of UTHM. A total of 30 UTHM students were involved in this workshop and it was a program sponsored by I'M BP, an NGO, with a cost of RM 1,475.00

18 February 2025

TRANSFORM has taken the initiative to hold a meeting with YB Prof. Dato’ Vice Chancellor, YB Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Ruzairi Bin Abdul Rahim. The purpose of the meeting was to present UTHM’s internal research papers. TRANSFORM’s visit was led by Dr. Zahrul Akmal Bin Hj. Damin and was also attended by Dr. Norizan Binti Rameli and Dr. Mimi Nahariah Azwani Binti Mohamed. Two papers were presented, namely a Study on UTHM Staff Involvement in Sports and a Study on Best Practices of Uniformed Bodies at UTHM.

18 - 19 February 2025

TRANSFORM in collaboration with Kumpulan Prasarana Rakyat Johor (KPRJ) and UNOYA held a course on Precision Data Management: From Basics to Brilliance at KPRJ. A total of 25 people consisting of KPRJ and ONOYA staff participated in this course sponsored by KPRJ and UNOYA. The appointment of TRANSFORM Associate Research Fellows as collaboration partners and speakers is seen as being able to expand the network for future consultation purposes in addition to fulfilling MoU activities.

20 February 2025

TRANSFORM represented UTHM at the kick-off meeting for the implementation of the Third Era University (U3A) consortium pilot project proposal held at the Ministry of Economy, Putrajaya. TRANSFORM was attended by Dr. Zahrul Akmal Bin Damin and Dr. Mimi Nahariah Azwani Binti Mohamed. The meeting agreed to select 3 universities, namely Universiti Putera Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) as the leaders of the pilot project to make U3A a success. The meeting determined that each University must propose a program to make U3A a success based on the strengths of their respective Universities.

24 - 25 February 2025

TRANSFORM in collaboration with ASD Training & Consultancy held an ISPS Code Crisis Operations Room Operations Management course at the Johor Port Authority, Pasir Gudang. A total of 30 people consisting of Marine Facility Security Officers and Marine Transport Security Officers participated in this course sponsored by the Johor Port Authority and ASD Training & Consultancy. The appointment of TRANSFORM Research Fellows as collaboration partners and speakers is seen as being able to expand the network for future consultation purposes.

28 February 2025

TRANSFORM has received a visit from the Student Representative Council (MPP), UTHM. This visit aims to discuss cooperation in terms of guidance and expert referral. The presence of the UTHM MPP was led by Mr. Muhamad Amir Luqman Bin Mohamad Alwi (NYDP I) and also included Mr. Sagadran a/l Thevan Nair and Muhamad Haikal Bin Mohamed Nadzri. This visit has successfully identified the prospects for cooperation to be achieved in 2025.

5 March 2025

The Institute of Social Transformation and Regional Development (TRANSFORM), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia paid a courtesy visit to the Southern Region Malaysian Marine Department on 5 March 2025. The courtesy visit aimed to discuss potential strategic collaboration between TRANSFORM UTHM and the Southern Region Malaysian Marine Department. The visit from TRANSFORM was led by the Deputy Director of TRANSFORM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fadillah binti Ismail.

5 March 2025

Institute of Social Transformation and Regional Development (TRANSFORM), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia attended a Workspace briefing held at the Meeting Room Level 2, Block A4, UTHM. This briefing was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nadirul Hasraf bin Mat Nayan, Head of the Strategic Planning Department, Strategic Planning and Risk Management Office (PSPR). This briefing aims to enable all management and implementing staff at TRANSFORM to interact online for the purpose of work instructions and implementation to support TRANSFORM's objectives.

5 March 2025

All staff at the Institute of Social Transformation and Regional Development (TRANSFORM), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia successfully attended the SPEED Transformation Sharing Session held at the TRANSFORM Meeting Room, Block B1, UTHM. This sharing session was delivered by Dr. Zahrul Akmal bin Damin, Director of TRANSFORM. This sharing session was held so that each member present could gain basic knowledge related to SPEED.

11 March 2025

The Institute of Social Transformation and Regional Development (TRANSFORM), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia has held discussions to hold a collaborative teacher development program between TRANSFORM UTHM and the Batu Pahat District Education Office (PPD) and Sekolah Kebangsaan Peserai. The TRANSFORM visit was led by Dr. Mimi Nahariah Azwani binti Mohamed. The presence of TRANSFORM was welcomed by the Head of Special Rehabilitation PPD, Learning Sector, Batu Pahat PPD, namely Mr. Mohd Fauzi bin Idris, accompanied by Mr. Mohd Yazi bin Jasman and Mrs. Raihani binti Esa.
